Taking bath during Sunnah I’tikaaf (itikaaf)

201 viewsApril 25, 2023I'tikaafbath itikaaf sunnah

Please let me know if we can bath during Sunnah I’tikaaf?

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah

This presentation covers I’tikaaf in detail.

In short, it is not allowed to exit the masjid boundary for general ghusl (for freshening up, cooling down, sunnah Jumua etc).

If a person experiences nocturnal discharge and has to take a Ghusl al Janaba, then this is permissible and will not break one’s i’tikaf

In relation to sunnah ghusl of jumu’a, one could use the time one goes for toilet for urinating or defacating, to take an additional couple of minute only for a quick ghusl in the same place before returning to masjid i’tikaf area. This should not be abused as it will either diminish one’s rewards of I’tikaf or slipping into unnecessary exit from boundaries causing i’tikaf to break.

Wallahu A’lam.
