Is it permissible to sleep between Asr and Maghrib and before sunrise?

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah

In principle there is no prohibition in sleeping after Asr Salah before Maghreb.

There is a narration or so mentioned in Shama’il al Kubraa about discouragement from sleeping after Asr as it may lead to one’s mind being taken, but the narration is not sound enough to establish any ruling.

A general caution however is always given to be cautious when you choose to sleep as it may cause you to miss your religious obligation. In this case, if one is not careful about time, he could miss his Maghreb salah which will be an immense loss.

Thus, one should be cautious. But, if one has sufficient mechanism to wake oneself up, and a small siesta at that time will assist his nightly ibadah and a’maal, then there is nothing wrong with it.
