One of the Amal of Friday is to read Surah Kahf. Would it be okay if one started Thursday night after Maghrib and read it piecemeal to finish it by the end of Friday and get the same goodness from it?

Since the day begins with sunset, it recommended practice to recite Surah Kahf after Maghreb of Thursday night. This is because of the generality of the principle of hastening towards goodness. This is specifically mentioned in the Sunan al-Darimi’s [#3450] narrations with the wordings “من قرأ سورة الكهف ليلة”
If one is not able to do so, then recommendation also include reciting it on Friday before Jumu’a Salah.
However, the wordings of the hadeeth in al-Sunan al-Kubraa lil Bayhaqi [#6063] specifically state “في يوم الجمعة” which is also inclusive of any time on Friday up until Maghreb.
