Thank you so much for your detailed response to my question.
At the end of my question I asked about the rulings for Ramadan of someone with a job of long distance trucking (to clarify long distance means 2000-3000 km per trip travelling in both Canada & the US before returning to their home city). By Ramadan I mean specifically their fasting. I’m assuming by your initial answer that they would be a traveler in terms of fasts. But since they are only ever home between trips for about 36 hours, would they still be required to make up all their missed Ramadan fasts or would their situation allow them dispensation to pay the fidya for each missed fast instead

The distance is indeed travel distance, and once one starts the day (dawn) of the day in condition that he is on the road, then he is excused from fasting for that day.
However, if at the time of dawn if he is not a traveler yet, then he must start the fast at dawn. Review the question at (https://qna.ilmhub.com/question/skipping-fast-if-has-to-travel-2-hours-drive-or-more-than-100km/ )
The 36 hours that they will be back home, in that time all the fasts will need to be kept. The remaining fasts will be kept later on as Qadha’ after Ramadhan.
One is never allowed to move over to monetary compensation (fidya) as long as one is able bodied to make qadha’, even if it be at a later time.
