1. We reside in Canada but we are thinking of getting our Eid slaughter done in Pakistan. Would it be valid?
2. If so, they do animal slaughter according to Pakistan Eid days and timings. The organization I’m looking at does it on either 1st, 2nd or 3rd day of Eid according to their own admin system and inform afterwards the date and city in which ours was done. If that doesn’t coincide with an Eid day here in Canada, would it still be valid?
Bismillahi Ta’ala
Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah
At the outset, it is permissible to have the Qurbani done at a location other than one’s residency for Eid al Adha.
1. In principle, the consideration will be made of physical location of where the animal for the Qurbani is being slaughtered. So a qurbani arranged in Pakistan will be valid if it is slaughtered according to the 10th Dhul Hijjah in Pakistan, whether it is before the Eid time in Canada or after.
2. While the above stands true, and since the Eid al Adha Qurbani may be done on 1st, 2nd or 3rd day, then if one makes as arrangement to have it done on the 1st day of one’s own Eid which may coincides with the 2nd or 3rd day of the place where Qurbani is actually being done, then this Qurbani is also valid and sound.
Note: In case where one’s qurbani (at another location) happens to be delayed to one’s own 2nd or 3rd day (in Canada) just so that it is done after Eid in the animal’s physical location, then those who have abstained from pairing nails and clipping hairs, should wait that extra day or two to fulfil their Istihbab (desirability) of not pairing nails before qurbani.
