Do we need name of the person while slaughtering the animal or we can skip?
Bismillahi Ta’ala
Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah
In principle it is not a necessary requirement to name the person for whom the slaughter is being made. An intention of slaughter on their behalf is sufficient.
A secondary requirement that should be taken care of is to make specification of the animal at the time of slaughter. Normally, this may be done via either assigning a tag-number or name of the head of the family.
If such specification is found, and the slaughterer intends to slaughter on behalf of the individual, then slaughter will be valid (along with any sub shares under it).
While the above serves for the validity of the Qurbani, encouragement is to maintain a transparent methodology of assigning a proper tag, name as well as the names of all the shareholder in the big animal at the time of slaughter. This may be difficult in large mass Qurbani, but easily doable in smaller arrangements.
A clarity of such measures help in keeping all the rules and ahkaam which may potentially borne from some unforseen circumstances such as an animal being destroyed on its way to the qurbani before it could be slaughtered etc.
