Can we use cpap while we are in the state of Ahram while performing Umrah or Hajj?

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah

A CPAP machine covers majority of the face which is more than the minimum threshold of a quarter. Hence the ahkam of covering the face will apply to CPAP machine.

If the mask is kept on for either full day or or a full night, or equivalent to this time (12 hrs),
then one must:
a. Give one damm, i.e. One goat/sheep
b. or Feed six masakeen (needy) with 3 Sa’ of food
c. or Keep three fast (either consecutive or separate)

If the mask is kept on for less than full day or full night, or equivalent to this time (12 hrs),
then one must:
a. Give out sadaqa of 1/2 Sa’ of food
b. or Keep one fast

In the case of CPAP, if it is utilized for chronic need as genuinely instructed by a doctor who understand the religious needs as well, then while wearing it will not be sinful, one will still need to give penalty for expiation for it.
