Zakat payable when one has gold and cash

554 viewsZakatcash gold zakat

My wife has a possession Rs 200,000 and Rs 2000 in cash. Does she need to pay zakat?

Issues of zakat calculation demand thorough review. While you state that your wife has Rs 200K worth of gold as well as Rs 2000 in cash, we do not know if she has any loans, or liabilities upon her. Those liabilities will need to be deducted to see what her Net Zakatable Assets are.

Thereafter, you will compare it with your locality’s Nisab benchmark to see if the Net Zakatable Assets is less or more. If it is more, she will give out 2.5% of the entire Net Zakatable Assets as Zakat.
