Widow permitted to go to her husband’s janazah?

231 viewsNovember 14, 2024General (Misc)funeral janazah

Is a widow permitted to go to her husband’s janazah?
Go see him before the burial?

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah

After the demise of the husband, woman would be in state of Iddat. She may not go out of home except for genuine shar’i need. Hence she may not leave the house to attend husband’s Janazah.

If an arrangement is made that the deceased’s body is brought to her home so she may see the husband, then she may see him.

However, other than this she may only leave the house when there is genuine shar’i need. A hypothetical situation for this would be that there is genuinely no one to take care of preparing the ghusl of the husband of prepare his burial, then she could help and assist in that as well. But if there are arrangements possible, she must stay in her home and not leave.
