Shortening all prayers due to long distance long hours work

495 viewsSalahprayers praying

My job is around 1,600 km from my home.

I work 14 days and then come home for a break.

So do I need to shorten all my Prayers during my entire stay of 14 days

Or I can decide sometime not to shorten it if the work conditions allow for complete Prayer.

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah

According to Hanafiya, making Qasr during travel is a command (wajib) and not a dispensation (rukhsa). This means, just as one may not choose to shorten the Salah while being resident (Muqeem) as it would go contrary to the original command of Allah, similarly during travel one may not perform full salah. Instead, as long as one is a traveller, one must perform shortened salahs.

If one performs full prayer instead, then one would need to repeat it while the time for the Salah remains. After the time for salah has finished then the salah will be considered fulfilled albeit with deficiency.
