Ruling of joining Imam for Friday Salah after missing Jumua Khutbah

770 viewsSalahjamua salah

If someone misses the Jumua khutbah unfortunately and directly joins the Imam during Friday Salah (2 rakahs), then what is the ruling? Can you please advise?

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah

Jumua Salah will be attained and valid as long as one catches the congregation before final tasleem (salaams). The person would need to pray two rak’at as masboog (lat-joiner). However, all rewards of the Jumua congregation would have been lost.

While the contextual reason for missing has not been mentioned, allow me to mention a general advice which may perhaps benefit others.

Jumua is once a week call from Allah on a day honored as the weekly Eid. One should make utmost effort to make sure one not only joins the Friday congregation from beginning of talk till the end, rather make it a point of one’s Imani taqadha (demand) that one set the affairs aside and free oneself for the Jumua.

If this means that one needs to have a few meetings with HR or employer to secure free time for jumua, then that should be seen as a religious struggle.

May Allah assist.
