Qadha itikaaf required if break itikaaf unknowingly?

524 viewsI'tikaafitikaaf qadha sunnah

If some breaks their itikaaf and they don’t know, however, they continue their itikaaf whilst observing all it’s rules, would their Qadha be done, or does intention need to be made?

Bismillahi Ta’ala

Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah

No, the Qadha’ will not be done automatically. The remaining days after the Sunnah I’tikaaf broke will be nafil i’tikaaf.

The Qadha’ for sunnah I’tikaf is one day and one night I’tikaf with the intention of Qadha‘. So a person will need to keep the qadha’ i’tikaaf with explicit intention.
