Is there anything incorrect about returning to the Haram following Tawaf e Wida? Or undesirable/ against etiquette?
Bismillahi Ta’ala
Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah
Firstly, it should be noted that it is Wajib (Compulsory) to perform Tawaf ul Wida/Sadr prior to leaving Makkah upon completion of Hajj or Umrah. The Prophet ﷺ has stated “whosoever visits this house (i.e the Kabah) let his final moments therein be the Tawaf (ul Wida)”.
However, if a person performs Tawaf ul Wida, and remains in Makkah due to some work or other commitments then he is not obligated perform Tawaf ul Wida again even if his stay prolongs for one year as long as he does not intend to make Makkah his residence. It is also permissible for him to return to the haram and perform other Ibadaat.
In such case, it is mustahab (preferable) for him to perform the Tawaf ul Wida again prior to his departure if his stay in Makkah is prolonged till after Isha.
If a person leaves the vicinity of Makkah without having performed Tawaf ul Wida, then will need to return back to Makkah to perform the Tawaf, as long as he does not cross the Meeqat boundaries. If he has crossed the Meeqat boundary and then remembers that he did not perform Tawaf ul Wida, he is not required to return Makkah to perform Tawaf ul Wida, but kaffarah will be compulsory for him upon returning back home.
If he wishes to return to Makkah to complete his Tawaf ul Wida, he must do so with the intention of performing Umrah, and must wear the ihram according to that intention. Upon his return to Makkah, he will commence with the Tawaf of Umrah. Upon the completion of his Umrah he will then perform the Tawaf ul Wida. In this case, the kaffarah will not be required.
