When going hunting, is immediate slaughter after shooting necessary, or can recitation be done just before shooting? What is the proper halal procedure for hunting?
Bismillahi Ta’ala
Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah,
When going out for a hunt,
- The tasmiyah must be recited before shooting or releasing the animal.
- If the prey dies from that wound, it is halal without further slaughter.
- If stable life remains when reached, the hunter must perform dhakah (and recite tasmiya again).
- If faint life remains, no additional slaughter is required.
- The act of dispatch, coupled with tasmiyah, serves as the essential dhakah hukmiyah in hunting.
These rules are mentioned with a little more detail in our blog post as well. Please check: https://ilmhub.com/the-proper-halal-procedure-for-hunting-according-to-the-hanafi-madhhab/
