Giving Zakat in kind instead of cash

512 viewsZakatcash zakat zakat in cash

Can zakat be given in kind like clothes, food or anything else??

According to Hanafiya, it is not a condition to give Zakat in any specific medium. Any medium that will be most beneficial for the recipient may be utilized. So if clothes, foods, or similar commodity will help the recipient, then Zakat may be given in those items.

However, the important matter must remain that ownership of the item must be handed over. Thereafter, the recipient may choose to utilize the item or sell it off as well.
