Mufti Saheb, I have been observing at ilmHub that you allow children to give adhan, while we have heard children cannot give Adhan. Could you please comment.
Bismillahi Ta’ala
Walaikum Assalam Warahmatullah
According to hanafiya, adhan of a child who is understanding of basic religious guidance is acceptable without karahiya. This is normally when Islamic education is disseminated to the child at about seven or eight years old.
Our books mention that while there is no dislike for such a child to give adhan, it is still better and more virtuous for an adult to give Adhan.
ilmHub is primarily an educational organization. We focus and encourage our children to know, learn and practice all aspects of our deen. So in our schooling we make all students of discerning age to give adhan as well as iqamah as a form of education. This means that we constantly endeavor to correct their adhan, pronunciation and other aspects.
While the student gives the adhan, others answer it which helps them learn the wordings and get used to answering the adhan. The mu’adhin also makes the du’a after the adhan which is also repeated by other students.
It is also for this reason we make them recite post-salah adhkar aloud while others repeat after him so that all students may memorize and make a habit of doing these adhkar.
All in all, while there is no inherent karahiya of such practice, since we do it particularly for the reason of education of the children, we hope that it will be reward worthy, Ameen
